Refocus.

- 37,008 feet over Utah traveling back from LA, one my first cross country vinyl project for Needs More Sticker, Sunday March 3rd.

This post has been a long time coming. Over the last few days I’ve had more than my fair share of airport and plane time to think are try to refocus. What started out as an afternoon with two flights getting into LA with enough time Friday night to start working the wrap project turned into completely changing flight plans twice and spending the night in Denver. Then more delays on Saturday pushed my arrival into LA back into the afternoon. 24 hours after leaving for the airport I finally reach my destination and started on the wrap. But with only 24 hours before my return flight home it was a bit of a push to get it all done. In the end it was completed and looks amazing. In the coming weeks I will be releasing photos of the final product and I think everyone who sees it will understand how this project got me back on track.

Now that you know how my weekend went lets talk about the last few months that I have been fairly quite not just on here but in my life as well. Now I know some of you are like, wait what did he just say? Jason being quite, thats never happened. Well yes it has. The last few months have been a bit of a struggle for me with lots of ups and downs in every aspect of my life. While trying to focus on myself I lost track of where I was trying to go with my path to being more. I was distant from my close friends, lacked any motivation to work on Needs More Sticker and was losing the heart to dig deep into projects at work. While it wasn’t an overnight change the last few weeks have started to turn things around. I took a deep look back at myself and said what do I really want to be doing next week, next month, next year. While the thought of closing the business did cross my mind, the belief that with some refocusing, things will be entirely different this time next year. Investing in the business to increase productively will be a big factor this year. The business was getting to a point where I did not want to seek out my opportunities because I was using all of my time to work on the tasks I already had and still wanted to have time to enjoy with my friends and keep my mental state in a good place. Reducing the time certain projects take will be amazing and provide so many new products. Stay tuned in the next few weeks for some per-car show season teasers.

Now on to what you are really here for or at least where my initial thought for this post was started. Traveling for work has always been enjoyable for me. I learn more getting into the field meeting with direct customers or experiencing the products I manage first hand than I ever could sitting behind a desk analyzing data. This outside interaction has always been important to me and will only become more important in the following years. Preparing for this short weekend trip was at first very daunting thinking about all the things that could happen; I don’t send enough vinyl, the vinyl doesn’t get delivered on time, I forget some tools, I rip a panel and don’t have enough extra to complete to the project, my flight gets cancelled (well honestly the travel aspect was never a worry for me, it probably should have been). All of these things were running through my head day and night the last week leading up to this trip. When the trip got closer things all started to fall into place. I had everything on schedule with a little bit of oh shit scramble and do this or reorder that time just in case. Vinyl shipped. Tools were picked out. Matching shirts finished (oh yes you heard it here first. This is my first project that has matching apparel and stickers for the wrap design). It was then that I started to realize how amazing this opportunity was. Not only was I going to do work for another small business owner and friend but this could become a normal thing. Traveling for my full time job is nothing to me anymore. I know all the little things I have to bring to be mobile and keep up with my daily routine. I can be prepared to go somewhere on only a few days notice, as this does happen from time to time. Then I thought why can’t I do with this Needs More Sticker as well. No longer am I limited to projects close to home. My current network of customers spans from California to Arizona to Kentucky and probably plenty of other places I’m forgetting. It may take a few more trips to completely have everything dialed in but right now its looking good.
